Akua Owusu-Nartey to lead WPP Scangroup, Ogilvy Africa

The Board of Directors of WPP Scangroup Plc has appointed Akua Brayie Owusu-Nartey as Group Chief Executive Officer and CEO of Ogilvy Africa, effective 17 November 2025. She will also join the Board as Executive Director.

Owusu-Nartey succeeds Patricia Ithau, who stepped down from the position in July 2025 after announcing plans to pursue the next chapter of her career.

Experienced leader across African markets

Owusu-Nartey brings more than 18 years of experience in integrated communications, brand transformation, and business growth for major brands across Africa. She has led cross-functional teams in markets including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia, and is known for driving operational excellence and creative effectiveness.

She has built a reputation for fostering purpose-led innovation and developing strong organisational cultures. Her expertise spans strategy development, creative management, public relations, digital transformation, and integrated marketing communications.

Leadership roles within WPP Scangroup and beyond

Before this appointment, Owusu-Nartey served as Chief Client Officer and Head of Connected Culture at Ogilvy Africa, as well as Acting Managing Director of Scanad Kenya. She has also held senior leadership positions within WPP Scangroup (Ogilvy Ghana) and Publicis West Africa.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Central University College in Ghana and an Executive MBA from Hult International Business School in the United Kingdom.

The Board expressed confidence that WPP Scangroup will benefit from her extensive leadership and industry experience.
