[Kenya] SemaBOX Africa launches YEBO, a secure file-sharing tool for creators

SemaBOX Africa has launched YEBO, a new encrypted file-sharing platform designed to meet the needs of African creators, filmmakers, and businesses seeking secure and reliable ways to exchange digital content.

Built on Mozilla’s open-source foundation, YEBO has been re-engineered to address the unique challenges and realities of African digital storytellers. The platform allows users to upload and send video, audio, or other file formats instantly via email, WhatsApp, or QR code, ensuring fast, flexible sharing across devices and platforms.

Each transfer on YEBO is fully encrypted, safeguarding user privacy and ensuring creators maintain full ownership of their content. Files shared through the platform are not used to train AI models and can be further protected with passwords, download limits, or expiration dates.

“We’re bringing back full ownership and control to African creators,” said the SemaBOX Africa team. “For too long, we’ve relied on global platforms that don’t prioritize our privacy or intellectual property. YEBO changes that, it’s secure, simple, and built for us.”

Currently, YEBO offers free file transfers of up to 2.5GB, with paid plans for larger file sizes and professional users expected to launch soon.

With YEBO, SemaBOX Africa says it aims to empower local creators with tools that prioritize security, accessibility, and creative independence in the digital age.
